We celebrate Black History Month as the Reverend Horace Seldon, founder of Community Change, Inc. (CCI), will address the issue of prejudice from the pulpit at the 10: 45 a.m. service. CCI is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote racial justice and equity by challenging systemic racism and acting as a catalyst for antiracist learning and action. CCI makes visible and challenges the historical and ongoing role racism plays in the institutions that shape our lives.
The Rev. Seldon also will lead a presentation, including a question and answer period, following the service and a potluck lunch.
A World War II veteran (Signal Aircraft Warning, attached Air Force), he earned a B.A from Amherst College, a B.D. from Andover Newton Theological School, and an Honorary Doctor of Education from Wheelock College. He has taught as adjunct faculty at Boston College and Andover Newton Theological School. He also served as a National Park Service Ranger and historian at the Boston African American National Historic Site.
