Since 2001, members of the First Baptist Church in Framingham have worked with the City Missions Society on the “Welcome Baby” program based in Dorchester. Because of the overwhelming success of “Welcome Baby” and the growing need in the Metro West to Worcester area for the same charitable services, we started a sister program and christened it, “Happy Birthday Baby!” to celebrate the births of these tiny blessings from God.

We received an initial donation from Framingham Cooperative Bank as seed money, along with many other donations of baby items and cash, and we were able to put together the initial baskets. We officially started this project in October 2005, with 24 baby baskets, and they were gone in 6 weeks!  We were told “more are needed” so we made more.  Since then we have given out over 180 baskets, with the help of Framingham Cooperative Bank, the Framingham Cooperative Charitable Foundation, TJX Corporation, Fabric Place, and Christmas Tree Shoppes.

Newest Baby Baskets!

This is an on-going program, statistics show that there are over 2,000 babies born in Framingham alone each year. We need more funding resources and businesses in our communities to join this program and build our community. These baskets have reached families in Framingham, Natick, Ashland, Hopkinton, Sudbury, Westborough, Shrewsbury, and Worcester.

Our Goal

We are asking school nurses, Visiting Nurses, teachers, friends and neighbors to call us if you know of someone who would benefit from receiving one of these baskets and a home visit.

If you need to ensure their privacy, please give them our telephone number and have them call us. We are more than eager to help any woman in need.
By offering these gifts and services of our time and knowledge to our low-income neighbors and young people in their time of need, we are also offering them the hand of friendship – acceptance and inclusion in the community that they live in. We are inviting them to become active members in the adult society and joining them in celebrating the birth of a wonderful gift from God.
